Adoption Update

After dialing the general number to the Cleveland immigration office for over a week and only getting a busy signal, I brought out the big guns: I called the secret number that my way cool friend, Jacquie, shared with me. The "big gun's" name is Helen, who is a very pleasant immigration worker of some sort. The sole purpose of my call was simply to confirm that immigration had, in fact, received our home study, which is a required document in order to receive the 171-H. The Cleveland office is notorious for "never receiving" home studies, so this was a big concern of ours. According to Helen, the answer was yes, they had received it. In fact, our file is now sitting on the man's desk that approves us to bring an orphan into the United States. In fact, our file is in the next batch to be reviewed and approved. In fact, Helen was going to send Mr. Approval-Man an email saying that I had inquired on our status and to expect our 171-H in the next couple of weeks. I'm trying not to get too hopeful here, but the last time I called immigration wondering where the heck our fingerprinting invitation was, the nice lady sent an email. Our invitation was mailed the day I called. Could we be so lucky again? Doubtful, but a girl can hope!
