My Sweet Husband
You know, I've always loved Tom, but lately I'm seeing a more loving, vulnerable side to him that is so endearing. For example, when I got home from work on Friday, he told me about his trip to the grocery store that afternoon...with tears in his eyes. He said that he was in the produce department, and a caucasian woman walked by with the most beautiful little Chinese girl in her shopping cart. After he explained to me the shape of her face and the glossiness of her black hair, he went on to tell me how much he already loves our future daughter and can't wait to bring her home. I could just tell that his heart was full.
Wait, there's more! Yesterday we stopped by Kohl's after our adoption workshop to see what kind of sales they had on baby clothes (clearly our phobia of jinxing our adoption by buying things for Grace has subsided somewhat). I picked out several outfits for Grace to wear next summer when we go to get her...and then we found the most precious red gingham dress with ladybugs on it! Those of you in the Chinese adoption community know that ladybugs are a sign of good luck. The bad part of finding this dress is that we couldn't find it in the size Grace will wear next summer. Panic stricken and fearing that if we don't find this dress in her size it will mean bad luck, Tom frantically searches the baby department for this dress in her size. He returned to me, victorious...he found his daughter's dress!
