I'm Thankful
I've come up with so many things in thinking about what I'm thankful for this year. Rather than bore you all with the million reasons I have to be thankful, I'll just focus on reason #1...Grace's adoption.
It took a lot of soul-searching for Tom and me to come to the decision to adopt our daughter from China, and because of this decision, our lives are fuller and more enriched than we ever thought possible. I wouldn't trade this experience and the little angel that waits for us a half a world away for anything, not even a child born to us.
Because of our decision to adopt, we've met so many wonderful people, both in person and online. So many of you we've met thanks to this blog, your blog, or an online bulletin board. This is the best adoption support system anyone could possibly hope for and is proof-positive that kind, generous people really do exist. I can't tell you how many times my day has improved by receiving a good wish and a quilt square in the mail or by visiting my favorite blogs and sharing experiences with you all. I've received a hand-made baby quilt, a box of candy, and a wonderful "coupon" all from people I've never even met. For that I say thank you...not necessarily thank you for the tangible item, but thank you for thinking enough of me to go so far out of your way.
I'm so thankful for grace. Of course I'm thankful for Grace, our future daughter, but also for the grace I've found in so many people. I was beginning to wonder if it still existed.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Hugs!
Kim

I second everything you said Kim! Adoption has been such an incredible experience for us. I am just blown away at times. It's not just the blessing of a child but the blessing of all the people I've met along the way too. I'm thankful for the chance to travel to another country and learn about their culture. There's much more! That's not even the half of it. You're right, we wouldn't trade all this even for a child born to us - I've done both, given birth and adopted, and adopting is NOT second best! Grace is going to be such a blessing to you, and you to her. Happy Thanksgiving!
I'll "third" everything you said. :-) The whole adoption experience has been amazing, but not just because we'll end up with a child at the end, which is what we originally would have thought. It's more than that at this point -- it's getting to meet all the fabulous amazing people who are on this same journey. What fun! What a gift! We're so lucky. :-)
