And You Think YOU Have Problems...
This is serious people. Below is the conversation that took place last night when I called the salon to make a hair appointment with my beloved hair stylist, T:
Receptionist (R): Good evening, A Salon.
Me: Hi, I'd like to make an appointment with T.
R: (sheepishly) Uh...when would you like to make it for?
Me: Next week, for just a haircut.
R: T isn't going to be doing hair anymore.
Me: (silence)
R: Hello?
Me: (stunned) Uh, yeah, wha???
R: T is having some health problems and isn't going to be doing hair anymore.
Me: (in disbelief) Well, what am I gonna do?
R: T is going to be contacting all of her clients to help them select a new stylist.
Me: Hunh. Well that doesn't help me with finding someone for next week.
R: T does have one appointment open next week before she leaves. Can you make it Tuesday at 5:30?
Me: Yes, of course. But what am I going to do? She's been doing my hair forever and I NEED her!
R: I understand, but T will help you find someone just for you.
Me: (like a whiney child) But SHE is just for me.
R: Okay Kim, T will see you next Tuesday at 5:30. (click)
Me: S*#t.
I'm in crisis mode, y'all. T is the best hair stylist I've EVER had. I had someone else at her salon do my hair when she was out on two occassions, and each time was a disaster. I'm sure you all can relate.
And now I feel like a shallow, superficial schmuck for worrying about who's going to do my hair instead of what's wrong with T. Maybe the reality of it is that I'm going to miss my friend more than I miss the way she cuts my hair.

OMG, I could have written this post. Same thing happened to me. The new young girl that was cute and edgy cut my hair in June. It still hasn't recovered......... I feel for ya.
I feel your pain. I have had the same hairdresser for the past fourteen years and coudn't live without her! Hopefully your hairdressers health problems are not too serious.
Heck no..my stylist just moved across town 45 minutes away this week after three years, and I about cried! Now, I have to drive all that way every month!

Not shallow at all. Your hairdresser can singlehandedly affect how you look (and feel).
Hope she's not too seriously ill, poor lady.
Every time I call to make a haircut appointment I'm afraid they're going to say "Tracy has left the salon" or something. So far so good though! I've been going to the same person for probably 10 years. Before that I've had your situation happen to me several times.
