Ni Hao From Changsha!
We made it to Changsha, Hunan this evening and are all settled in the very beautiful Dolton hotel. I'll be honest, we had a rocky start. Of course the air travel was gruelingly long, but I suffered some major culture shock upon arriving in Hong Kong and desperately wanted to come home. But, I had a daughter to meet, so that wasn't an option. And I'm glad it wasn't. We had a wonderful tour of Hong Kong and what a lovely city it is. I'll have to post about it later. Now that we're in Changsha, I have to laugh about having culture shock in Hong Kong. We are the REAL China now...totally different than Hong Kong, which is very Westernized. And I have learned that I really need to be more careful around here. We ventured out with a few others from our group this evening in an effort to find a Pizza Hut, and I nearly got run down by a car while we were walking on the "sidewalk". Driving on the sidewalk? What's that all about? And we saw dogs. Not dogs as menu items, but dogs running around on the streets and going in and out of shops and peeing all over the place. I wasn't expecting to see real, live dogs here. Silly me. Speaking of dogs; I desperately miss my pups.
Anyhow, enough of the senseless babble. We receive Grace in aproximately 12 hours from right now. There is a crib in our hotel room (which we don't know if we'll need), and we are all ready for her. We also received an update about her today and she just sounds like the sweetest, more sensitive little girl.
Well, I'm off to try to get some shut-eye, but I'm pretty sure that won't be happening. This is our last night apart, and it can't pass by quickly enough.
Also, thanks Jacquie for posting while I was having trouble getting onto blogger.
