Family and Friends-
Our agency has just confirmed that the CCAA is only matching LIDs from May 26 - May 30th in March's batch of referrals. This means that when they match May 31st in April, it will have taken them 4 months to have matched one month of LIDs. It is believed that this has happened due to the fact that May was a huge month for the receipt of Dossiers in China. We do not know if the months following May are high volume months for Dossiers. We'll have to wait and see.
What this means for us (having a LID of 12/5) is that our wait time has lengthened tremendously. When we submitted our Dossier, we were expecting a wait time of 6-8 months. It is quite possible that our wait time could extend to 12 months or more. There is a possibility that the CCAA will resume matching entire months of LIDs again, speeding our timeframe back up. We just don't know.
As is the case with so many families waiting to adopt from China, this change in trends has been very difficult for us to accept and live with. Please understand that if anything changes, we will let you all know immediately. We will be parents to the perfect child for us. This is not an assumption. It is a fact. China adoptions are not shutting down and we have not been deemed "unacceptable" as potential parents. We have not been mislead by our agency in any way. It is a delay. Plain and simple.
We will continue to prepare for our daughter. However, we have also realized that we need to live our lives while we wait for her. We even plan to live on the edge a bit and take a short vacation this year with money we know we should be saving for when Grace comes home. By not indulging ourselves, the wait will be that much more difficult.
So, in summary, please know that your Grand-Daughter, Niece, Cousin and Friend will be home as soon as possible. It's not necessary to ask every time we talk if "there's anything new". It's hard for us to constantly tell you "no" or try to explain things away. Just keep the faith as we're doing and rest assured that we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, let's all remain excited about the future arrival of Gracie!
With love,
Kim and Tom

You need a sanity break. Go to where the sun is actually shining.
DEFINATELY take the trip. It will be a good break for you and once your daughter is home you will be glad you had gotten "away from it all."
Great post. Well done.
Ok, now........
where ya goin'?
LOL Jacquie, heck if I know! Some place CHEAP!
I really loved this post. Soo sincere.
thanks Grace. I also appreciate your comment.
I am happy to be away end of april and end of may so no rumor mill for me those months...
Hang in there. I think a trip is a fantastic idea. I'm LID 12/8 and I could be bawling my eyes out. Now I'm thinking I should take a trip too! Someplace where they serve fruity alcoholic drinks in coconuts with those little umbrellas. Doesn't that sound great?! Have one for me!
Very well said Kim.
Sending you lots of hugs!
Tonia
Have fun on your trip! Whereever it may be!
Hugs! The wait is awful and I'm not even DTC yet (waiting on that 171)!!! YIKES!!
Hope you plan somewhere warm and fun to visit!
It's true - take a break and enjoy the lives we are living now. It's what we should be doing.
I loved your post. Looking back, I wish we had never announced our adoption intentions until shortly before referrals. It is hard to always answer the same question over and over. I know they mean well but it's not like we haven't explained how this thing works.
Hang in there. Have fun and when our turn comes - we'll all be ready...
It does seem like many of us stop "enjoying" life as we wait. I
also decided that I need a break
from it all. We are in for a long haul and I'm not going to sit around and be depressed. Looking forward to summer and all the fun that brings. Loved your post.
Lisa
Beautifully written - you have captured all of our "waiting family" angst in one succint and loving post. We, too, are planning a summer vacation - sanity is key these days :)
Kim,
Per your comment on my blog, you can find the shelf and basket set online or at JCPenney catalog. They will mail it directly to you!
I sent a similar email to my coworkers. It does get very difficult to be asked the same questions over and over when you don't have an answer. I still have a few people that ask every time I see them but not nearly as many.
Hang in there.
Michele
LID 9/26
What a very nice way to try to tell those who are asking you about info to NOT really keep asking as it make sit harder for you NOT easier.
I really pray that your discouragening news recently will turn around to some unexpected good news for you and al of you waiting for China.
Our family is waiting for Mexico. We do not have and haven't had a group of people to travel with. Actually I am the grandma who can not help my ( adult child) get her baby any quicker than you can help your baby get to your waiting arms and home. It gets very hard some days, but you keep waiting and putting in time. each day brings you that much closer. Decide you do not know how far away the finish line is...and it won't move on you. each day you will know you are one day closer. Hang in there. Grace will be home and you will enjoy her and have quite a story of love and devotion to share with her when she is old enough to understand.
Hugs and Sophie Lu kisses to you. My heart is with you during this awful wait...
Shana
(waiting for sophie)
